After several attempts and rumors, Microsoft has finally announced the date for the launch of the new Windows 10. This launch is very important for the company, and things must go perfectly from the start, especially since over 1.5 billion people use this system and depend on it every day. This is probably also the reason why the launch date has been postponed until now. With the launch, many current users will be able to upgrade for free. In addition, a significant number of current users – especially those with outdated PCs – will buy new devices with Windows 10 installed.
Considering the recent evolution of personal computer sales, both types of users are equally important for the company. Thus, computer sales have decreased, and studies from overseas have shown that tablet sales have also dropped by 7 percent. One of the causes may be the explosion of smartphones – which have now become smaller tablets – but also due to the problems faced by Windows 8.
The new operating system must attract new buyers for the hardware side, this component being crucial.
Windows 10 may represent the energy boost Microsoft needs at this moment. The program is a combination of old and new technologies, all designed to help the user perform any type of activity, whether we are talking about work at the office or at home.
A new element introduced in the system is Cortana, Microsoft's virtual assistant. Cortana is intended to help with tasks, such as, for example, setting up a meeting using voice command. Beyond that, the assistant will also act proactively, to warn or perform certain tasks on its own.
Good news is that Microsoft has also announced the launch of a Cortana app that will be available for devices with Android or iPhone systems.
Another major announced change is the return to the start menu prior to the Windows 8 version. In that version, the computer usage menu was replaced by a system of "tiles," those square buttons that covered the screen and took the place of the classic buttons. Although this system was designed to be much easier to use and access from mobile devices, for many users it was a nightmare. The start menu was, for most, hard to identify on the new screen, which led to reluctance in use, resulting in many users not adopting the new version. Microsoft has now announced that it will return to the previous version, with the traditional menu.
Microsoft Edge, the new internet browser from Microsoft, is integrated into this operating system and promises a lot, from better speed to the ability to eliminate distractions from a web page, allowing you to have only what interests you in front of you. It is one of the most awaited features, as it seems like a clearly superior alternative to the old Internet Explorer and, according to some specialists, even to Google Chrome.
Another novelty is the introduction of XBOX Live in the new Windows 10, with the possibility of having all functionalities available on the smartphone.
Opinions are still divided regarding the new operating system, but only after the launch will we be able to test and analyze it.
