What is the best operating system for mobile devices? Do we choose the device based on price or performance and the number of applications?
The top 3 operating systems are very well known and practically capture 99.9% of the market.
Let's start with ANDROID
Android seems to be the most popular operating system, occupying approximately 71% of the market share (at least in Europe in 2016). It can be said that the multitude of free applications available in the Google App Store made this operating system the most popular.
A negative aspect is also the fact that a very large percentage of the applications in the store have a fairly low quality level. But, guaranteed, you will find applications for absolutely anything you want. To a very large extent, the applications are free, but most of the time these applications come with commercial messages or do not have the highest accuracy.
Android addresses both low-priced devices and high-performance devices, thus being the most versatile operating system.
iOs
Apple's operating system should be, according to the manufacturer, the most reliable and stable system. We are not here to contradict that. However, the diversity of applications in the store, although very large, and the cost of many applications prevent most people from choosing a device with this operating system (not to mention the price of the devices, which is not negligible).
Also, considering the high costs for both devices and applications, this operating system is the main target for hackers.
Thus, iOs has only a 21.2% market share.
Windows Phone
We can say that due to the latest version of Windows Mobile, namely 10, the popularity of this OS increased quite a bit in 2016 compared to 2015. But let's not rush; even so, the market share is only 7.7% in 2016.
Being a relatively inexperienced OS (compared to the two above), the diversity of applications is small. Another reason that directly contributes to the creation of applications is the programming language used. The programming language is very similar to Silverlight, a language that came as an alternative to Flash. But both have lost massive ground to HTML5, Silverlight more than Flash. This means the number of programmers is decreasing.
Because it has such a small market segment, hacker interest is very low for this operating system, which makes it, at least for now, the safest.
So the question arises: which mobile operating system is best suited for me?
Do I need stability and not too many applications? Or do I want many free applications? A reliable operating system and am willing to pay for it?
Everyone chooses according to their needs.
