Email marketing is a very common method for promoting businesses online. The reasons are well known to everyone: ease of use, low costs, and multiple benefits (brand awareness, website traffic, etc.). However, when a company decides that it is time to start such a campaign, it must consider following a few very simple steps, which will increase the success rate and impact of the emails sent.

1. Establish the list of recipients who will receive the email (the recipient list). This list does not need to be very large to start an email marketing campaign. It is enough to start with a small list, but with people who are interested in you and what you want to convey to them. How you can obtain a list of subscribers interested in your company is detailed here. It is relatively easy to get people to subscribe to the newsletter.

2. Define the purpose of the campaign, that is, what you want to achieve by sending those emails. Do you want to maintain their interest in your products and services, do you want to sell them something, do you want to educate them (through blog articles), or improve the quality of your relationships with your audience? After setting these objectives, you need to develop the entire strategy around them.

3. Create a schedule for sending the emails so that you maintain a certain cadence, whatever it may be. Depending on the proposed goal, the sending frequency can be monthly (not very recommended), weekly, or twice a week. The audience should not be bombarded with messages, but they should not be sent too rarely either, as people tend to forget about you. Send emails when you have something to say.

4. Find the best technical way to send the emails. Even if your list is short, you must have the technical capability to send emails so that they do not automatically end up in the recipient’s spam folder. It may seem easy (and unfortunately still practiced) to send emails to subscribers from a personal address, 20-30 at a time. This method is wrong for many reasons, including the fact that the emails go directly to the recipient’s spam folder and that they will never open them. There are many companies on the market that offer mass email sending services, among which this one offers complete email marketing services, from creating the message body to generating campaign monitoring reports.

5. Campaign monitoring. After sending some emails, it is advisable to track which ones were more successful and analyze the causes/reasons that led to this differentiation between emails. Important data can be extracted from this regarding the time, day, format, or content of the email. Although there are some general guidelines to follow, which we will discuss in a future article, these things depend on and are established according to the specifics of the business and the target audience you are addressing.

In conclusion, an email marketing campaign must be planned, scheduled, and carried out correctly to achieve the desired results. It is not a complicated process, but it is very important to have the appropriate technical means.
