4 tips to keep visitors longer on your website or blog

How to increase the time visitors spend on your siteWe all want to attract as much traffic as possible to our own websites, to be visited as often as possible and by a large audience. However, it is more important to study how much time they spend on the site, on each page or on each article published on the blog. After all, what matters is what visitors do on the page, whether they read the texts or close the page after the first 5 seconds. Thus, it is essential to create a site where people want to spend more time, to read and to return with the same pleasure. The bounce rate should be as low as possible. Here are some tips to keep people on your site or blog as long as possible:

1. Use internal links that easily guide visitors to the pages that interest them and where they can find the details they initially came to the site for. Linking content to another page, which contains information of the same nature or that may be of interest to the visitor, helps them navigate easily and continue browsing your website or blog without having to go back to the previous page or, worse, actually leave the site. Links should lead to other quality content, related to the theme of the original page and valuable.

2. Use media content and graphics to make the site as interesting as possible. Videos are, by nature, much more attractive to visitors than plain text. It is preferable that these be integrated either around the middle of the article or at its end, so that those who watch them have already read the text to understand what the video is about.
Graphics make numbers and information in general easier to understand, which is why more people will read them, even if accompanied by text content.

3. Use a widget with similar articles or an archive of articles on the side or at the bottom of each page. If this takes the form of photographs or images in general, it will attract even more visitors. Thus, from article to article, someone who came for one piece of information ends up spending even a few hours on your website or blog.

4. Improve page loading time. Your articles can be of extraordinary quality, you can have appropriate links and references, but none of it matters if no one sees them. The loading time of a web page often determines the visitor leaving before they get a chance to read anything. Nevertheless, the visit is recorded in Google Analytics. If it does not load immediately, the user will leave the site without waiting even 2 seconds. Therefore, each page must be optimized in this regard: remove any unnecessary plug-ins, optimize the code and images on the page.

Besides these tips on keeping visitors on your site or blog, other on-page SEO elements must also be considered, as optimization is essential and indispensable. Quality, varied, and well-documented content is, ultimately, what attracts and keeps the visitor engaged.
